Oh Dear!

So you know when you start thinking of a design for a card?
You plan it all in your head? You Start working on everything.... You put it all together..... and it looks TERRIBLE!

This... is one of those cards! *sigh* I spent ages on it last night and it was awful.. annoyingly I had left things late anyway so I couldn't creat another card so had to post it to the intended recipient this morning.. I was tempted to sign it anonomous ;)

But I thought I would share it with you lovely people anyway!

So here it is! See what I mean?
Looking at it I wonder if I could have done with making the cake a bit larger? I don't know... Its too later now anyway! But there you go! I followed the colour scheme provided at Colour Q this week. Check out the awesome picture below.

I also used the sketch that was provided by Clean & Simple Sunday Challenge. Check out the sketch below!

Its just a shame about the output! Darn! The cake and the sentiment are both from Pink Petticoat. I used plain card for all the elements from Paper Mill Direct and just matted on to black card from my local craft shop.

I coloured elements of the cake with my green sakura jelly roll pen as you can see from the picture on the right. I didn't want to colour the whole thing in... just give it that little hint of colour!

The one thing I do LOVE though is my awesome new watermark from the wonderful Doodle Pantry... I've been wanting something new for a while and I finally decided to get an awesome creation from Laurie! Yay!

Anyway let me show you the awesome inspiration photo and sketch:

I'd quite like that clock in my house please! Reminds me of something from the Big Bang Theory hehehe!

Anyway, thanks for looking!

  1. Oh, Jennie! You remind me so much of me! I think your card looks great. I'm thinking that you aren't keen on the orange though and that it is out of your usual style. I like it but more muted colors is more my comfort zone!

  3. Oh Jennie, it's good to know that happens to others too! I'm definitely a quick-ish crafter if I just do my own layout (normally one of a few that I favour!) but think and change my mind too often when I'm trying to adhere to a sketch or a challenge! Your card looks great! Susie

  6. I think it's still a fun card, although I know EXACTLY what you mean when the thought in my head does not translate to the card! Someone will enjoy it! Thanks for playing with the CQC this week!

  7. I think you're being way too hard on yourself, Jennie! But I know exactly how that goes, when you have an idea that doesn't turn out as expected. Still, you've done a great job with these colors, which are perfect for a cheerful birthday card. I'm sure the recipient will appreciate your thoughtfulness. Thanks for joining us at the ColourQ this week!
